Christian (left) and other volunteers at Clothe the People in Pass Christian, MS happily receiving underwear
If another disaster happens, this will again be an urgently needed item.
Why not buy an extra package now and then so you’ll be ready when the call comes.
“The situation here (Biloxi) is pretty desperate - there are still many people living here in tents and on the ground because their houses are destroyed. Many of these people have not had a shower or a change of underwear since the hurricane struck. Even those with new underwear have no laundry facilities, and therefore must wear the same undergarments over and over again. There are various skin diseases beginning to emerge. The people of the Gulf Coast have an urgent material need… for several truckloads of undergarments (boxers, briefs, panties, bras, socks, t-shirts, sweat pants for the upcoming winter.”
Rick Fehr
Long-term Biloxi Volunteer
In October of 2005 CAP launched an underwear drive to join Rick (aka 'Biloxidoc') Fehr's "Send Me Your Underwear Campaign". Our little warehouse became the place for people to send underwear from all over the country. We collected over 2500 packages of underwear and sprinkled them over the gulf coast.
