Through very generous donations from UAB Hospital and Bayer Company, CAP has distributed hospital supplies and diabetic testing supplies to many clinics in the Gulf. We continue to serve the free and sliding-scale clinics in the Katrina and Rita areas and supply diabetic kits to them on a regular basis. From the grateful feedback, we know we are filling a huge need in the area.
Listed below are the medical clinics and hospitals we work with. This site is the only one we know of that has such a list, so if you know of a clinic that we’ve missed, please contact us at capbham@aol.com.
Note: We are always looking for people traveling to MS or LA who can stop in Birmingham, Alabama to help us deliver these vital supplies. Let us know if you’re planning a trip! capbham@aol.com.
First Aid Kits: With the supplies donated by various groups we have begun to make First Aid Kits ready for Volunteer groups who respond immediately after a disaster hits in our area. These are generally distributed by the United Methodist Disaster Warehouse in Decatur. For a list of what we put in the kits, click here.
Volunteer Doctors and Nurses: We are compiling a list of doctors and nurse practitioners who might be available to work in a clinic in a disaster area on very short notice. I can guarantee you that this is a most rewarding experience. Please email capbham@aol.com if you would like to be on this list.
Occasionally we go down ourselves to deliver these supplies. Gas money is appreciated. (See “Needs” for information on how to make a tax-deductible donation.)
Thanks to Gail and Jerry Daw of Advanced Automotive and Jennifer Kilburn for sponsoring our June trip (see June Update for details and pictures!)
