In other related news, through the grapevine, we recently received the following email from Foundation Hope in Kiln, MS:
"We have a resident here who is in desperate need of an Insulin Pump to control her diabetes. There seems to be little to no help for her here. She has no insurance and cannot get any insurance. Medicaid has denied her and she only has a total annual income of $12,000 per year. She is the primary caregiver for her two elderly disabled parents and driving is no longer an option with her diabetes so out of control. She wrecked recently when she passed out while driving due to her sugar dropping so fast. Her Nurse Practitioner here at the health clinic said she needs to see a specialist (an endocrinologist) but she cannot afford the costs associated with that medical care.
Do you know anyone who can help us get her the help she needs?"
Thanks, Trish Myrick Foundation Hope, Inc.
We sent this email out to our network and within 24 hours had a handful of suggestions for her. Trish reported the woman in tears at the response.
