PLEASE NOTE, MY CELL NUMBER IS CHANGING TO 205-288-1317. Cingular Wireless has been great to us -- letting me keep one of their loaner phones until the first of January. THANK YOU CINGULAR WIRELESS! Kennedy Communications has stepped in and offered to provide us with phone service and lots of minutes on my CAP Southern Linc. THANK YOU TED KENNEDY!!
Below is a letter from my contact in Pecan Island, LA. Our volunteer, Ira Mitchell took a load to meet them in Baton Rouge last Thursday I thought you'd all be interested in reading it. Laura
LAURA,
OUR TRIP (to Baton Rouge to meet our load) WENT SO WELL TODAY. WE FELT SO BLESSED LAURA. OUR MANY THANKS TO ALL OF YOU . UNLESS YOU ARE HERE I DON'T THINK ANYONE CAN IMAGINE WHAT ALL OF US ARE GOING THROUGH.
WE ALL VOLUNTEERED FOR KATRINA AND COULD NOT PHATOM WHAT THESE FAMILIES WERE EXPERIENCING TO HAVE IT HAPPEN TO US ONLY A FEW WEEKS LATER.
I WILL BE SENDING PICTURES OF PECAN ISLAND TO SHOW HOW SLOW PROGRESS HAS BEEN DUE TO EVERYONE HAVING NOTHING LEFT.
AGAIN MANY THANKS FOR ALL THE SUPPLIES TODAY THEY WILL BE GREATLY
APPRECIATED.
IF YOU KNOW OF ANYONE THAT HAS KITCHEN ITEMS-POTS, PANS OR EVEN ANYONE THAT OFFERS DISCOUNTS PLEASE LET US KNOW.
KEEP US IN YOUR PRAYERS,
GERI
Update Jan 4
Hi everybody! We took a week off, but managed to get a few loads off to New Orleans the week of Christmas and got quite a bit of donations into the warehouse that same week. So, we are back at it and would love to have some volunteers to make up toiletry packs and do some other sorting. Mid Jan. we expect to get some more canned goods in a will make up some food boxes. We are also expecting to get the last components for our first aid packets.
We also are looking for volunteers that want to drive down to the MS coast.
