Many agencies are coordinating relief efforts for survivors of the April 27th Tornado Disaster in Alabama. CAP has a long history of joining in disaster relief efforts, beginning with Hurricane Katrina in 2005, and continuing with help for Haiti and Japan. When Hurricane Katrina hit the coast, CAP (City Action Partnership) mobilized to coordinate donations for evacuees at the Civic Center. With the tremendous outpouring from the Birmingham community, CAP began coordinating shipments to the coastal areas. We continue to be a link between the Birmingham Community and the coastal relief effort and have become part of the nationwide grassroots relief effort.
