We've had a busy couple of weeks since our last trip to MS coast.
Nov. 25th We got off 4 pallets of food and 1 pallet of diapers to Biloxi and Bay St. Louis (thanks to Buffalo Rock!). We have accepted about 7 pallets of medical supplies from UAB that we are in the process of sorting and labeling. A new volunteer, Lisa Howard and her kids came down and got a good start on this. Her husband then took a car load of IV solutions and diabetic supplies to Ocean Springs where my doctor contact, Dr. Al McNair, will get it to where it needs to go. We also sent down a box of kid's jackets and 2 bags of underwear and socks. The teachers in the area come to their pod for supplies.
The Howard’s and some friends volunteered to take much needed diabetic supplies to New Orleans for us! (Thank yall so much!) We have located a warehouse with some tents in CT and are going crazy to get them here. We’re hoping for sooner, but have been promised shipping by Dec. 21st.. Anybody have any ideas on this please call me.
Dec. 9th We’ve hit a snag in our operations. Buffalo Rock has discontinued shipping to Gulfport. Again, this is due to a Plant in NO getting back to operations. We are talking to another shipper and hope to get at least a couple of pallets out once and week. IF ANYBODY KNOWS OF A COMPANY THAT SHIPS TO THE AREAS WE ARE SERVING, PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP! We now have 4 pallets ready to go of medical supplies (thanks to Becky whose been doing all the sorting)and 4 boxes of underwear and jackets . We got about 3 more pallets of office supplies from Wacovia! Marla Kenney at Hoover High continues to bring us goods and we got another 2 load of baby supplies from United Way.
When we get 12 pallets ready to go we will call on our friends at Two Men and A Truck for transport. In the meantime if ANYONE is planning a trip to the coast of MS or LA, please let me know and I’ll load you up with supplies.
