OUR FOREVER CAP
CAP dispatcher, Chris Blake, succumbed to complications from kidney disease on August 1, 2004. He was 29.
Chris touched many in his short life. He was the kind of husband, son and friend that everyone would be glad to have. No one at CAP ever saw him lose his cool even though his job as dispatcher made him a critical juncture of the whole operation. He was always ready to be there when anyone needed a shoulder or a friend.
He met the many trials and tribulations life threw at him with determination, courage, and good humor. He lived with diabetes and asthma since childhood, but they didn't stop him from getting on with his life. When his kidneys failed, he looked at the endless future of needles and tubes and dialysis and said, "I can do this." He never gave up. He never complained.
Those of us left behind must now go on without him. But we know Chris will be there for us, as he always was. When things get tough, we'll hear his voice. It is sure, not hesitant. It has his beautiful smile in it. It will say: "You can do this."
